Hughes Financial Services, LLC (HFS) was founded in May of 2009. The founders were a father-and-son team, Paul and Scott Hughes. The original office being in the upstairs room in Paul’s house.
They both came from a large financial institution specializing in retirement services for individuals. They left the corporation to form HFS because, in their opinion, the entity was losing sight of what was in the client's best interest and becoming more concerned with the corporation's financial gain. The client's well-being is the cornerstone of our work. The firm was built and guided by key principles: integrity, transparency, and client-first philosophy. We believe that every individual deserves personalized financial advice that aligns with their unique goals and values. These principles remain the foundation of our approach today, ensuring that clients' interests always come first.
From the beginning, we adopted a different path than most financial service firms. Most other firms utilize one advisor to grow a 'book' of business, and if the advisor is not available or has left the firm, the client is left without direction.
We assume clients need service beyond one individual, and take an ensemble approach, under the strong belief we are a collection of people coming together to create something bigger than ourselves. The entire firm's resources and personnel are available to serve our clients. By organizing this way, clients gain access to assistance at any time, even during a vacation, illness, or retirement. Additionally, by adopting a team approach, the client benefits from the added specialties across the entire team, whether they need in-depth tax planning, estate planning, nuances of retirement plans (corporate, federal, state, or county), divorce, or investment advice and management.
We chose early in our history to become a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm. As an RIA, we can provide personalized financial advice without selling commission-based products, setting us apart from firms that combine such sales with advisory services. Additionally, we act as a fiduciary, meaning we are legally and ethically obligated to prioritize our clients' needs and goals. This commitment to impartiality further underscores our dedication to client-first service.
One of the core foundations of our growth has been the decision in January of 2010 to join The Academy of Preferred Financial Advisors (APFA). This is an organization of firms across the country that stay current and support the best and upcoming resources in the financial industry.
Because of APFA's input, we provide educational newsletters, financial workshops, and comprehensive tax planning, as well as enhancements in client relations. This communication is intended to clarify and simplify the understanding of complex topics.
In 2023, we partnered with Bluespring Wealth Partners (BWP). This partnership allows us to continue investing in our growth and adding to our robust client experience by enabling us to:
- Maintain our independence and ability to manage the firm as we see fit
- Offload non-productive back-office duties such as payroll, accounting, HR to allow us to be more client focused.
- Enhance our technology and cybersecurity systems with Bluespring's tech team
- Gain access to a Corporate Trust Company and Independent Insurance Solutions to build upon resources available for our clients
- A strong community of firms that mirror HFS's client-centric motivation and share potential enhancements to those services.
